Freelance Wisdom is devoted to sharing the stories and work of women creatives. By providing advice, encouragement, curated resources, and helpful products - we hope to instill confidence in women pursuing their own creative businesses.
A few years ago, right before I took the leap into full-time freelancing, I sent out a bunch of emails to women freelancers that I admired, requesting their advice. I was nervous that I wouldn't hear back from anyone, but just the opposite was true. Everyone I wrote to responded with enthusiasm and with amazing nuggets of wisdom. I was struck by their kindness and how much the creative female community wanted to help others launch their freelance career.
At the time I was writing on my blog, June Letters, on a daily basis, and I had began to gain a following of female creatives. The advice I had gathered was too good to keep to myself, so I decided to create a series called "Freelance Wisdom" featuring interviews with creative women.
The series was instantly popular and I was so happy to receive many praising emails. I was once again struck by the generosity and enthusiasm of my community, both from the experienced freelancers and the newbies.
In the summer of 2015 I took a break from blogging to focus on my pregnancy and newborn, but I kept mulling on the thought of creating something bigger out of Freelance Wisdom.
Well here we are! My mission is to create a space where women can learn from one another, encourage each other, and feel empowered to pursue their passions in a real way.

Kate joined Freelance Wisdom in May 2016 because she deeply admired the community of support and empowerment that founder Jess Levitz was creating. As a small business owner herself, Kate benefitted from the daily inspiration and wanted to be a part of encouraging women to chase their dreams. When she isn't coordinating interviews or planning meet-up events for Freelance Wisdom, you can find Kate keeping people connected with Of Note Stationers, a letterpress paper goods and bespoke design company that she founded in 2014.
Kate enjoys quiet moments in used book stores, daydreaming about tea time, writing letters, watching the seasons change in New England (a novelty since she is originally from Los Angeles), and spending time with family and friends.
